Elba High School alumni

The dedicated work of a committee of Elba High School alumni came to fruition Friday, Oct. 16, when the first Elba High School Alumni Association meeting/reunion was held in the cafeteria of Elba High School.
This “all school” class reunion for Homecoming brought nearly 250 Elba alumni members together ranging from graduates of the 1940s to the most current years. Everyone in attendance enjoyed refreshments as they reminisced about their good ‘ole days of walking the halls of Elba City Schools.
Committee members Jean Helms led the business session of the organizational meeting that day, and officers were elected to lead the new alumni association.
The alumni elected Linda Hodge to serve as president of the association. She will be assisted by vice presidents Lucia Grantham and Joan Ward, treasurers Doris Matthews and Pam Baker and secretary Sasha O’Neal.
Also during the meeting, the association member decided to continue hosting the “all school” reunion at Homecoming each year.
Several committees are being formed to allow more people to become involved with the association and its projects. Anyone interested in serving on a committee is encouraged to contact Linda Hodge, president, at clipperace@troycable.net.
The Elba Alumni Association has been created to allow graduates to stay involved with the school system and help promote its success at all things. The association also hopes to begin a scholarship program to assist future Elba High graduates.
Currently, nearly 400 graduates of Elba High School have joined the new EHS Alumni Association. However, there is plenty of room for additional members!
Charter membership for the association has been extended to allow alumni to join now for only $20. Checks [made payable to EHS Alumni Assn.] can be mailed to Pam Baker, PO Box 182, Elba, AL 36323. Included with the check should be the graduate’s name, year of graduation, mailing address, email address and phone number to allow the association to be able to keep the member informed on association happenings.
