Alex Bruce wins Elba High School’s local Skills USA welding competition

The welding department of Elba High School’s Career Tech program conducted its annual local Skills USA welding contest last Thursday, Jan. 29, at the school.
Elba welding instructor Bruce Sasser said this contest was for advanced welding students. There were eight students competing in last Thursday’s contest. Sasser said the winner and first runner-up would advance to the Skills USA District Contest set for Friday, Feb. 20. 
Students participating in last week’s contest at Elba High School were: BJ Free, Thomas Danley, Avery Hanchey, Angel Lopez, Daniel Jimenez, Dalton Parrish, Alex Bruce and Blake Moore.
