Elba High baseball team planning season kick-off event

The Elba High School baseball team is planning a 2015 Season Kick-Off event for Saturday, Feb. 7, at the high school, and everyone is invited to attend.
The event will include several different activities. Admission to attend the event is free, but there is an entry fee to participate in the hit-a-thon and plates will be sold for the fish fry.
There also will be inflatables for the little ones to enjoy.
According to members of the Elba Diamond Club, the booster organization for the baseball program, the players and coaches are very excited about the upcoming season, and they would love to share that excitement with their supporters.
The day’s events will begin with an “Old-Timers” Hit-A-Thon. This is open to anyone out of school (does not have to be an EHS Alumni).
Registration will be at 9:30 a.m. with the show beginning at 10:00. There is an entry fee.
Each participant will get 15 swings! Prizes will be given for longest ball and most hits.
A lunch break will begin at 12 noon.
Currently, plates are being sold for the fish fry (plates will include fish, fries, cheese grits, and dessert). Picnic tables will be set up at the kick-off event for everyone to eat while they enjoy the day’s activities, or plates can be picked up to take home.
Fish fry plates will be available from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. but should be purchased in advance.  Plates can be purchased from any member of the EHS Baseball Team.
At 1 p.m., a new event has been added for this year’s kick-off celebration. There will be an Old-Timers vs. Rookies baseball game.
Event times are estimates and depend on the number of participants.
All Elba fans are encouraged to support the baseball team and coaches as they prepare for the upcoming season by attending this 2014 Kick-Off event!
“We want everyone to come out and enjoy the day, watch the Hit-a-Thon, watch the game, eat some fish, and show support for the EHS Baseball Team,” said Destiny Hudson, Elba Diamond Club booster.
