On Friday, Oct. 17, the 2014-2015 Elba High School Sr. Beta club officers had the chance to experience an educational and resourceful opportunity.
The leaders were able to travel to Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Andalusia, Ala. for a leadership seminar. Those in attendance included Sr. Beta sponsor Jane Moseley, President Emilee Hudson, Vice-President Victoria Greer, Secretary Cammie McCollough, Treasurer Paige Weeks, and Historians Caitie Lusk and Chase Moseley.
The group met early in the morning and followed Mrs. Moseley to the college. Once they arrived, all of the leaders signed in and had the chance to meet and greet with others while waiting for the sessions to begin.
Once the group had settled in, an announcement was made saying that breakfast had kindly been delivered for them. Breakfast consisted of fruit, drinks, and Hardee’s biscuits.
Once everyone had the chance to eat, the group moved to the theater for a few opening words and a description of the upcoming day. Soon after, the groups were broken up and sent to their assigned session locations.
The sessions included three different classes where the leaders learned about their own leadership styles, those of others, the leadership techniques that more experienced leaders used and much more!
Once the day had ended, everyone gathered into the theater to hear a few closing remarks. After departing from the college, the group traveled to nearby Zaxby’s and enjoyed a final meal with one another.
“That really was the best leadership seminar that I have ever been to,” said secretary Cammie McCollough. “I learned a lot of information that I can bring back and really use in everyday life.”
Each officer immensely enjoyed attending the seminar and is highly looking forward to the next visit!
